Bio
Flutist and Pedagogue, Samantha Donnell, is a passionate performer known for her expression and wide range of color in music. Her expertise lies in contemporary works, including - flute with electronics, extended techniques, beatboxing, amplified flute, added choreography, and visuals. Her artistic goals are to expand the role of music through combining positive psychology and mental health with music in the hopes that her audience feels a connection to peace, love, and humanity.
Dr. Donnell received a BME at Stephen F. Austin State University, a MM- Flute Performance at West Virginia University, and her DM- Flute Performance at Florida State University. She took a gap year to study with Alberto Almarza at Carnegie Mellon University. Her treatise is on The Flute Methodology of Alberto Almarza. She is grateful and forever indebted to her former teachers, Christina Guenther, Nina Assimakopoulos, Alberto Almarza, Karen Large, and Eva Amsler.
After completing a visiting professor position at Austin Peay State University, Dr. Donnell has recently moved to Tallahassee, FL where she maintains an active private flute studio.
